- annual with trailing or erect stems, up to 3 feet tall but usually shorter
- leaves opposite, elliptical to ovate, 1-3 inches long
- stems and leaves covered with sticky glandular hairs
- flowers hot pink, in globe-like clusters up to 3 inches wide
- blooms in spring or during wet weather
- restricted to open areas on deep sand
