- leaves alternate or in small clusters, stalkless, obovate or spoon-shaped, 1/2 - 1 1/2 inches long
- flowers inconspicuous
- fruit a 3-lobed, 3-seeded capsule ca. 1/4 inch long, on a fairly long stalk
- endemic to South Texas and Tamaulipas
- mostly on the Rio Grande Delta, but also in Starr County
- locally common in brush along Arroyo Colorado
