Brazoria arenaria
  • endemic to sandy areas in South Texas, including South Texas Sand Sheet and Ingleside Barrier
  • annual with square stems usually a foot tall or less
  • leaves opposite, oblong or spoon-shaped, with only a few teeth on margins
  • flowers in terminal racemes, pink-purple, bilaterally symmetrical
  • blooms in early spring
  • endemic to the Texas coastal plain
  • grows in open areas on deep loose white sand
  • similar to Brazoria truncata but with darker flowers in a more elongate open spike
