  • small shrub 11/2 feet tall or less
  • stems erect, sparingly branched
  • leaves twice-compound, with 1-3 pairs of pinnae
  • leaflets 5-10 pairs per pinna
  • flowers in pairs at tip of peduncles
  • stamens bright pink, 1/2 inch long or more, much longer than floral cup
  • fruit pod 3-4 inches long, 3/8 inch wide, with thickened edges
  • shallow sandy soils over caliche, or on caliche outcrops
  • Dewitt, Goliad and Victoria counties
  • also in Tamaulipas
