Eriogonum greggii
  • herbaceous perennial usually 1 foot tall or less
  • leaves mostly in a basal rosette, only a few on stem, mostly obovate or spoon-shaped, up to 1 1/2 inches long and 3/4 inch wide
  • stem branched in upper half, each branch ending in a cluster of small white to reddish flowers
  • occurs in openings in thornscrub on tight sandy soils over caliche
  • Hidalgo and Starr counties
  • also found in Nuevo Leon and Coahuila
