  • low-growing perennial with many spreading stems, usually < 1 foot tall
  • leaves pinnately compound, with many tiny leaflets
  • flowers yellow, appearing at various times during growing season (after rains?)
  • buds reddish but petals yellow
  • in grasslands on sandy to loamy clay in South Texas and eastern Tamaulipas, but rare throughout range
