Correll's bluet (Houstonia correllii)


  • prostrate annual with stems forming loose mats 3-5 inches wide
  • leaves opposite, narrowly spatulate, the longest usually < 1 1/2 inches long
  • flowers on short stalks from leaf axils
  • corolla bright white, 4-lobed, ~ 3/8 inch wide
  • endemic to South Texas
  • known only from Zapata County
  • found in loose sandy soils
