- annual with several stems from base, starting out almost erect but eventually becoming almost prostrate
- leaves opposite, linear, very short
- flowers tiny, 5-lobed, whitish
- endemic to deep sands of coastal South Texas, extending inland on Sand Sheet
- named in honor of Dr. Fred Jones, the dean of Coastal Bend botany
