Shinnersia rivularis
  • aquatic plant with submersed stems forming large clumps
  • leaves irregularly and asymmetrically toothed or lobed
  • broad leaf segments- not linear as in water milfoil (Myriophyllum)
  • flowers in white heads on long peduncles, usually held above surface of water
  • occurs in springs and spring runs such as San Felipe Springs in Del Rio
  • two locations in Texas and a few more in northern Coahuila and northern Nuevo Leon
