  • flower heads on long peduncles
  • ray flowers purple-brown with yellow-orange tips
  • disk flowers purple-brown
  • endemic to South Texas
  • mostly in deep sands in northern half of South Texas Plains
  • known (at least historically) from 9 counties, but rare in the wild
  • more common in nursery trade—sold as Cosmidium burridgeanum
